Equality……sounds great. Gender equality in the society…..sounds even better. Well, I am not going to write about what all people talk about - that women have become empowered and are equal to men nowadays. I am going to address the issue that, are women really as equal to men as we say these days? Yes, it is very fashionable these days to talk about gender equality and probably you’d be seen as old fashioned and biased if you didn’t say so…..but are women really treated as equal? That is a moot point. Men and women both go out to work. While men are comparatively tension free when they are in the office, women have so many things to worry about at the back of their minds – whether it is about the welfare of their children, spending quality time with them, homework, tests, maid etc. You’d often come across women not attending a get together after office because she’d rather reach home early and spend some good time with her family.
